Cute Invites on a Budget

Sooo last time I needed invitations I made very detailed handmade invites that coordinated with the colors of my collection (pics in previous post). This time, I was lacking time and money and found a creative and cheap way to make a lot of cute invitations. I bought one sheet of scrapbooking paper for .59cents and used ribbon I already had. The mission for invitations is not only to get word out about your event but to also be eye-catching and memorable. Everyone thinks they're cute and I got my message across so mission accomplished!

Covered Buttons

Ok so I decided to add fabric covered buttons to my collection. They looked super easy to make and I figured I could come up with alot of ideas for them. I seriously started making them at 6pm and didn't finish until like 10:30!!! and I only had 4 pair!! crazy right? So I googled it the next day and OF COURSE I was doing it wrong!! I found this awesome video that breaks it down perfectly: How to Make Your Own Covered Buttons
A demonstration on making your own fabric-covered buttons for clothing, pillows and other projects.

My Last Trunk Show

Ok so my debut of "Sprinkles" was mildly successful. I held it in April and I had about 10 guests. It was a great learning experience because alot of things got axed that day. Having it in an apartment wasn't my favorite thing either. I would suggest a clubhouse or an actual house. Student housing not so much. Instead of waiting for guests to arrive I think having a timeframe of when people can come is better. As far as refreshments, I had strawberry lemonade and cupcakes that coordinated with the jewelry. It was cute, but I plan to take a more mature approach next time. Cocktails would be a great idea or Mocktails...just depends. Keeping with a dessert for refreshments is probably the easiest and least expensive option. Music is necessary to keep it from being dull! I acutally had a mini-fashion show at my first one which was super cute. I handmade the invitations which were unique and were in the colors of my jewelry. It gave a foreshadowing of what was going to be at the show. These are tips that worked for me and I'll definitely have more after my upcoming trunk show!
